On April 8th, our Advanced Animal Science students had the incredible opportunity to visit Bramble Park Zoo for a special behind-the-scenes tour. The visit gave students an up-close look at the inner workings of the zoo and what it takes to care for such a wide variety of animals.
We explored the quarantine areas where animals are housed before entering or leaving the zoo, as well as when they’re sick. We also got to see the zoo’s kitchen, where staff prepare fresh meals and enrichment treats tailored to each animal’s needs.
Students learned how the animals are housed during the winter months and the specific climates required for different species. We also learned about the zoo’s involvement in breeding programs that help conserve and bring back endangered species—an effort supported by zoos working together around the world.
The zoo educators and staff were outstanding, answering all of our questions and providing an engaging and informative experience. It was an unforgettable trip full of learning, curiosity, and inspiration!
