Our CDE (Career Development Event) season was full of hard work, learning, and success! We kicked things off at the Groton CDE on February 28th, where 13 students from Waubay represented Webster/Waubay FFA in contests such as Ag Mechanics, Horse Evaluation, Livestock Evaluation, and Veterinary Science.
Next, we traveled to Redfield on March 7th, again bringing 13 students to compete and continue building their skills. On March 18th, four Waubay students attended the Northwestern CDE, gaining more valuable experience.
The season led up to the District 1 CDE Qualifier in Milbank on March 25th, where we had an impressive showing—9 out of 13 Waubay students qualified for the South Dakota State FFA Convention! Our Ag Mechanics team placed 4th, Horse Evaluation team earned 3rd, and the Livestock Evaluation team secured 4th place.
Those 9 qualifiers traveled to Brookings, SD from April 3rd–5th to compete at the State FFA Convention. In addition to their competitions, students attended sessions, workshops, and a career fair. They also had the chance to connect with other FFA members from across the state, creating memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
