This week, our students had the opportunity to tour the Meathouse in Andover, SD, gaining firsthand insight into the meat processing industry. From harvesting to packaging, they learned about the steps involved in meat production, including USDA regulations, food safety, and humane handling practices. Seeing these processes in action helped reinforce classroom lessons on animal anatomy, meat science, and food safety while sparking discussions about career opportunities in the field.
A huge thank you to the Andover Meathouse for welcoming us and providing such a valuable learning experience. Hands-on opportunities like this help students connect their agricultural education to real-world industries, preparing them for future careers in agriculture.
